Which laser printer should you choose?
A laser printer prints very sharp text quickly, and its toner does not dry out between uses. It suits the office, students and anyone who mainly prints documents.
Monochrome or color?
- Monochrome: black and white only, lowest cost per page. The HP Laser 107a and 107w or the HP LaserJet M211dw are enough for home use, the HP LaserJet Enterprise M507dn or M611dn for a whole department.
- Color: charts, invoices with a logo, sales materials. Examples: Canon i-SENSYS LBP633Cdw, Lexmark CS331dw, HP LaserJet Pro 4203dw.
Single-function or multifunction?
A multifunction laser adds copying and scanning in the same device: HP M141w, HP MFP137fnw with fax, or the Canon i-SENSYS MF651CW in color.
Reading the model letters
- d: automatic double-sided printing (M211d, MS310d).
- n: Ethernet network port (M406dn, MX331adn).
- w: Wi-Fi, to print from a phone (107w, M141w).
The A3 format
For plans and large tables, you need an A3 printer such as the HP Color LaserJet CP5225dn or the Lexmark W850dn in black.
For maintenance, see toners and drums. Brands: HP, Canon, Lexmark.
