Toners

Toner is a fine powder composed of plastic, carbon, and color pigments. It is used in laser printers. Under the heat and pressure of the printer's fuser, the toner adheres to the paper to form the image or text you are printing. It's the equivalent of ink for inkjet printers, but with a different technology.

To choose the right toner, you absolutely must know the exact make and model of your laser printer. Each model uses specific toner cartridges. The toner reference number is usually found on the old cartridge, in your printer's manual, or on the printer manufacturer's website. Also, check if you are looking for black or color toner.

Original toners (OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer) are manufactured by your printer's brand. They guarantee perfect compatibility and optimal print quality. Compatible toners are manufactured by third parties. They are often less expensive and can offer satisfactory print quality, but compatibility and durability may vary. The number of pages printable with a toner cartridge is indicated by the manufacturer as a yield. This yield is generally based on a standard 5% coverage per page (which corresponds to medium-sized text). This figure is an estimate; the actual number of pages printed may vary depending on the density of text, images, graphics, and print settings.

The most common signs that indicate it's time to replace your toner cartridge include: pale printing or missing lines, smudges or spots on the paper, faded colors, or a low toner level warning message displayed by your printer. It is recommended to replace the cartridge before it is completely empty to avoid damaging other printer components.

It is important to recycle used toner cartridges to preserve the environment. Many collection points exist in Morocco, particularly in electronics stores, specialized recycling centers, or with certain consumables suppliers. Some printer manufacturers also offer take-back programs. Inquire with your local council or authorized retailers to find the nearest collection point.
